The Conquer Chiari Research Center will hold our first annual open house at the University of Akron on Saturday, April 27th, 2013, from 9am-3pm. Patients, their families, and all those interested in our research are invited to come and visit our new center!
Attendees will see lab demonstrations, hear about our current research projects, and talk with the researchers. Patients will have a chance to participate in an ongoing research study. Seventy guests from around the U.S.A. have already registered for the CCRC Open House. While there is no cost to attend, space is limited. ALL attendees must register for the event.
Registration is closed.
Conquer Chiari Research Center is the world’s first non-clinical center solely dedicated to the advancement of Chiari research. CCRC was established in April 2012 as part of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Akron. Dr. Bryn Martin was hired as the first CCRC Director in June 2012, and in January of 2013, the center moved into the newly constructed Engineering Building on Wolf Ledges Parkway.
In less than one year, the center has grown to include ten faculty members and thirteen student researchers, and in the coming months, an in-house neurosurgical resident program will be established. CCRC is supported by Chiari malformation patient donations through the Conquer Chiari Patient Education and Research Foundation, a not-for-profit organization based in Wexford, Pa.
